New integrations use JWT authentication. Create an API Consumer in your account, request a token from the identity service using the API Consumer client ID, client secret, and audience, then send the token as an Authorization bearer token to the target API.
- Should API Consumer credentials be used directly in browser JavaScript?

No. API Consumer credentials and JWT tokens should be handled by trusted server-side code or a secure backend proxy. Do not place client secrets in browser JavaScript, mobile binaries, public repositories, URLs, or client-visible logs.
- Can one API Consumer be used for different VINquery.com APIs?

API Consumers are configured with allowed APIs and audiences. An API Consumer may be allowed to request tokens for services such as VINdecode, VINfix, VINocr, VINbarcode, LPR, or DecisioQ when those APIs are enabled for that consumer.

Yes. Knowledge Catalog discovery is free. You can browse sectors, categories, decision definitions, criteria, profiles, scenarios, sample requests, and constraint metadata without consuming DecisioQ operation credits.
- When does DecisioQ deduct an operation credit?

A DecisioQ operation credit is deducted only when a billable decision execution request is successfully processed and returns a Decision Result. Authentication failures, validation failures, malformed requests, rate-limited requests, server-side errors, and catalog requests are not billed as decision executions.

No. DecisioQ produces deterministic decision results from the selected decision, criteria, constraints, profile, scenario, and candidate data. AI explanation content, when available, is used to explain the result in business-friendly language; it does not overwrite the deterministic recommendation.
- What happens when a candidate fails a DecisioQ constraint?

Catalog-defined hard constraints are evaluated before ranking. Candidates that fail hard constraints are excluded from criteria-based ranking and shown separately as excluded candidates with the reason they did not participate.
